Performance Engineer - Performance Testing/Evaluation

Role
The Performance Engineer role in the Performance Evaluation Function will own and be responsible for the execution of performance evaluations of target software systems.

The Performance Engineer will be expected to:

* Create scripts (jMeter / Loadrunner) to be used in performance testing.
* Install and configure the target software system on appropriate hardware
* Should be expert in one of programming language tuning
* Create load generation infrastructure appropriate to the load generation requirements of a specific target, using relevant commercial or open source tools.
* Troubleshoot or debug target software installations, load generation or instrumentation tools, or hardware.
* Execute performance experiments according to an experimental design and collect performance data.
* Assist in the analysis of performance data to determine additional experiments required, or modifications to the experimental design necessary to meet the performance objective.
* Tabulate and present performance data in forms appropriate for visualization, analysis, reporting, and onward dissemination.

Expected background/experience/skill sets:

* 3-5 years of strong hands on scripting and execution experience on commercial or open source load generation frameworks mainly jMeter / loadrunner (preferred experience on jMeter).

* Hands on knowledge of (more than one) systems monitoring, instrumentation, and measurement and profiling tools appropriate for a spectrum of Operating Systems (Windows, UNIX like systems), application development frameworks (.NET, J2EE), languages and runtimes (C, C++, Java), middleware and appservers(Apache Tomcat, Weblogic, Websphere), databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres)
Examples of System monitoring tools include: perfmon, sar, vmstat, Wireshark, Rational Quantify, Rational Purify, DevPartner, JProbe, gprof, DTrace, DProbes, valgri)d,

* Good knowledge of database tuning and optimizations (Oracle or SQL Server)
