Hi, Which LR protocols, other than citrix, can be used for testing the non browser based GUI applications ?

I've never seen GUI/QTP work in reality. RDP is another option. So what did we win? A test? A job interview?

Plenty of customers using GUI Vusers. It takes a very different approach to design GUI scripts for load testing, for sure.

That's the problem I've heard, Shane. Customers was to take existing QTP scripts and run them directly in LR. Just doesn't seem to work well. Also I've heard that if you want to run 100 GUI vusers that you need 100 LR licenses *and* 100 QTP licences.

Each GUI Vuser license includes the necessary QTP license entitlement, for use with LoadRunner or Performance Center.

You all are missing the point - or I do not understand the question: Loadrunner is a protocol level testing tool. Meaning it never uses the application during testing. It simulates the client's communication (and logic) to the server. With that, to answer you question properly, you need to know what the communication protocol the application is using. That is the protocol. The GUI/QTP user is not meant for a full load test, you could never set up enough QTP systems to generate a proper load.
