Hi All, I want to know whether it is feasible to use automated scripts developed using QTP, for load testing in LR. If no, please do let me know what all technical issues are associated with it.

Been there since LoadRunner version 1.0: GUI virtual user. However for 500 virtual users you will need 500 operating system instances. Also, your scripts are likely structured improperly for a load test. But other than those conditions, yes you can do it. Which is a different question than should you do it?

You can use loadrunner GUI protocol to execute qtp scripts and also you need a Microsoft terminal server license to invoke multiple remote desktop sessions

QTP scripts has also usr files which can be run on controller but QTP runs on session based approach, very much like a real time activities on machine unlike LR which simulates users. This is definitely not advisable to run a load test.Few users(N) you can on N workstations - but again if u need few users, you can run those many vugen sessions which don't bear any cost

It should also be pointed out that the GUI Virtual Users are the most expensive license type to purchase in volume. So, if your concern is that you will save labor cost by reusing QTP scripts, all you will really be doing is incurring costs on your performance test infrastructure and your license that would be far higher than just hiring someone capable of building effective scripts at the transport layer
