probably "Download non HTML resources" option was unchecked and hence all those non-resources are downloaded from cache. This could be one possible explanation..
 
Let me rephrase the question: The number of transactions increased by increasing the think time/pacing. How? No other parameters were changed.
 
For some reason in the test run after the changes there were exceptions ?
 
I suspect requests may not getting expected response. Mostly happens for ajax calls.
 
simple , your server is down , so the pages you are hitting will return error code quickly . so you will get high TPS :p
 
Gas attendant (Server) feeling choked as too many cars (Requests) have come/queued for filling. He (Server) needs some fresh air now. Increase the pacing (Ask some people to go on some other station :)) and server will be able to handle all the requests and give expected response :)

Transaction rate I understood transactions per second getting increased. As per my understanding garbage collection happening faster due to delay
